Description
The meaning of the word Dehesa is ‘private’ and it is the value of these woodlands that preserve the trees and wild inhabitants. Along with the Cork Oaks and the Holm Oaks, Olive trees can also be a very widerspread albeit more cultivated component of these woodland habitats known as Dehesa. Usually the Olives are found planted in rows closer to human habitation but the birds love them too and the Olive trees are just as characterful as the oaks with similar small tough xerophytic leaves, ancient craggy grey barks, but a lighter grey green in their colours.
