Description
This pair of adult Griffon Vultures had classic plumage especially the one on the right with beautiful red tinge, the lefthand bird was darker brown. They looked great against the rock cliff and appeared to have known each other a long time. Their adult status indicated by the ochre horn of their bills and the neat mantles. The vultures were at various stages of breeding. This pair seemed to be settling to nest while another pair had a full-grown chick in their nest and others had fledged successfully. There was a gang of young birds on the top of the cliff that just seemed to be growing up in a playful vulture way, eyeing everything in the sky that passed and going on short sorties with their mates (pals). Youngsters are also quite reddish but with dark bills, spikey (lanceolate) mantle feathers and pointy feather endings all over.
