Rookwood Art & Print captures artwork images in digital format using high resolution photography / scanning, or works from high quality digital images provided by the artist.  We maintain careful colour management throughout the print production process to reproduce the colours used by the artist as accurately as possible.

We produce fine art prints using the giclée method of digital printing to the Fine Art Trade Guild standards: they are printed at minimum 400 – 600dpi resolution using an industry leading Epson SureColor P9500 printer with premium UltraChrome Pro12 inks which provide exceptional 99% coverage of the PANTONE solid-coated colour standard; and they are printed on an archival, acid-free heavy-weight paper to suit the type of artwork, in order to produce long-lasting high quality prints.  Independently rated by Wilhelm Imaging Research Inc. the UltraChrome PRO12 Inks result in prints lasting up to 200 years for colour and 400 years for black-and-white.

Philippa Mitchell

Philippa is a painter in oils and in watercolours with a new studio in Hook, near Haverfordwest. Plein-air sketching in watercolour as well as taking photographs, enables her to record the moments of inspiration found whilst walking. Landscapes and wildlife (in particular birds), especially coastal scenes feature often. Strong sunlight and water are favourite subjects. Paintings might include a flock of geese; a path along the coast; a view of a harbour or a garden full of butterflies and flowers.

Philippa’s earlier career was as a textile designer including her first job with Laura Ashley in Carno, Powys. She moved from Wales to Gloucestershire, then Norfolk and finally Scotland with her bird ecologist husband and family, but has recently returned to Wales. A life spent sketching, drawing and painting as a way of recording and sharing a sense of discovery and awe developed into painting as a full-time artist from 2016.

Awarded a Creative Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage project to study perceptions of wild geese in 2014, allowed her to work with her husband on a science + art project. Philippa has taken part in the John Busby Seabird Drawing Course in Scotland 2022 and 2023, and has exhibited successfully in open studios, art festivals and with an art collective in Fife. Her work has been sold to collectors in the USA, Ireland, Denmark and the UK. Three of Philippa’s paintings have been exhibited with Society of Wildlife Artists in The Mall Galleries, London. She has taken part in group and solo exhibitions around Scotland, and undertaken several residences including at the RZSS Highland Wildlife Park and Cambo Gardens Trust, Kingsbarns. Philippa was the Artist in Residence for the Fife Coastal Path in 2023 with a resulting book published and available from the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust.

Philippa’s work can be viewed in her studio by appointment made via email through her website.
