Philippa Mitchell

From Fife Coastal Path where Philippa Mitchell was the artist in residence (among other residences) a couple of years back, Philippa and husband Carl, who is a bird ecologist, have made their move to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.  Philippa now paints full time from a studio near Hook or when weather permits, in plein-air around our beautiful coast.

Bird studies have taken them both from Gloucestershire to Norfolk to Scotland, and now Philippa has returned to her home in Wales where she started her career in art as a textile designer with Laura Ashley.  Phiilippa has exhibited with the Society of Wildlife Artists at the Mall Galleries and her work has sold to collectors around the globe.  Her strong design skills are very apparent in her striking compositions.  Philippa’s artworks are often made up of vivid colour and light conditions, with great botanical detail in many works, and always full of life with butterflies adorning wild meadows or damselflies following a hidden woodland stream.

We welcome them both to Pembrokeshire and it is great to have Philippa join up with Rookwood Studios to produce high quality giclée prints of her work which can be ordered from this website.
