Our youngest artist at Rookwood is teaching us the most! Ella graduated from Falmouth University relatively recently with a Drawing Bachelor of Arts.
Ella draws inspiration from the boundless beauty of the natural world and the complexity of human experience. Working primarily in pen, watercolour and charcoal – she blends fine detail with expressive mark-making, capturing depth and emotion in her subjects. Often weaving elements of botanical illustration into her work, she uses symbolism and storytelling to add richness and meaning to many of her pieces.
Ella also has a great gift for teaching and is running a course in Life Drawing in St Davids which many of us artists are benefiting enormously from. The lessons are really enjoyable social events (with wonderful brownies and cakes provided!) and it’s amazing how much one can get done in a limited time when in that situation. This course will start again in September. Please contact Ella if you are interested in attending.
Ella’s botanical illustrations are superb and we have the lovely Sunflower painting adorning the wall in the Natural Gallery. Ella has completed a series of flower paintings. She has an active and highly committed social conscience and has made and sold prints of these to raise funds for All Our Relations who are currently active in Gaza helping the destitute population there. She has a raffle going for the next four days for people to contribute to this worthy cause and possibly win a beautiful portrait by Ella. Click here if you would like to participate.
Ella will be embarking on a series of new Coastal Watercolour Workshops offering amateur / experienced artist the chance to slow down and take in the beautiful scenery and paint.
